2021.12.03 19:24 throwRAsuicideroom Who are the people who have changed your life most significantly (for better or worse) and what were their types?

I'm an INFJ.
My boyfriend is an ESTP - we've only been dating for 4 months and while I am sometimes overwhelmed by his social energy, the sheer impact he's had on my life perspective is astonishing. He's helped me realize I can be bold, I can have my own opinion about things, and I don't have to take anybody's shit. He's shown me the value of being straightforward and honest/direct about things, and has helped me grow out of tip-toeing over issues or overthinking/analyzing until I pass away in my room from anxious tears. He also encourages my independence instead of smothering me and has exemplified the importance of allowing life to unfold one moment to the next without attempting to control every possible outcome. He also bases every conclusion he draws off of cold, hard facts.
My two best friends and mom are INTJ and ISTJ - they help me approach life and sensory experiences from a logical perspective and bring the grounding of real facts and tangible proof. They've shown me the importance of trusting what you can observe/know to be true, not necessarily what I want. We can talk for hours about the nature of relationships, our lives, our place in the world, and they are always showing me the humor in life with their quick wit and funny observational humor. My ESTP does this as well, but his humor can be a little bit more cutthroat - theirs is sardonic but bigger picture (my ISTJ bestie is close on sensing v. intuition so she toes that line well). They have all also helped me accept that what other people think of you is irrelevant and is not a reflection of your value as a person.
My ENFJ bestie and a good ISFJ friend of mine have helped me appreciate the small things in life, helped me learn to celebrate little victories, and have also helped me accept that my feelings just are what they are. I don't have to analyze every emotion I experience until it's dead. They've helped me build a connection between my sensory experience (physical) and my emotions, which has helped me bridge the gap in identifying what's important to me, what I like or don't like, and what I really want out of life.
What about all of you?

2021.12.03 19:24 Lyrics100 How many income streams do you currently have?

People love to talk about Fire but in order for you to reach Fire as fast as possible, you'll need an additional source of income (more the better). If you're able to add multiple sources of income you'll be there in no time. So how many additional sources of income do you have? I oftentimes talk about youtube being a great side hustle opportunity, mainly because you can build numerous income streams through, Affiliate links, sponsorships, ad revenue, POD, selling product etc. That's probably the best way to create additional income streams (in some cases even passive income which is hands down the best way).
Now I do know it's not easy and it takes time, however just imagine 5 years from now. It can really change your life forever. I think youtube is the goldmine and it offers so many opportunities to make money. I know a lot of people don't really want to retire and more so seek financial independence so that they can focus on things that they really love to do. Youtube can be your entry point to post 9-5 era. Thoughts?

2021.12.03 19:24 Dr_0wning Dr K’s 12 Rules to Life

DISCLAIMER: This is from Dr K's Wednesday stream replay (12/1/2021). I thought it would be really beneficial for me to write it down to look back at it later so I went back and took extensive notes. I highly recommend you go and watch it in full (~last 20 mins but really the entire stream is gold) because the below is just bits and pieces. Some items require the full context more than others. Also, while I tried my best to paraphrase as closely as possible, if there are any material omissions or errors below, it is my bad. I hope y'all find this useful :)
Dr K’s 12 rules to life

  1. Your spawn point is RNG (karma - you don’t get to control what hand of cards you’re dealt in life, you just get to control how you play it)
  2. Life isn’t supposed to be anything, life is a sandbox game (eg entitlement, it’s supposed to fun, engaging, it’s unfair this. You’re not entitled to any of that). Life is what you make it. Let go of what it’s supposed to be and look at what it actually is.
  3. It’s your choice whether life is PVP or PVE/CO-OP. You get to decide what mode you want to play in. You can be a decent human and help others, or you can choose to troll ppl, invalidate their experience. You can ask for help.
  4. There are world bosses and they cannot be defeated on their own (like structural/institutional racism, sexism, climate change). All you can do is try. Everyone tries to do what they know in their hearts is completely insufficient. No snowflake believes that it is responsible for the avalanche.
  5. There is no respawning and the servers go offline after 72 years, on average. You get one shot at this life. The clock is ticking. What are you going to do with it? How will you play this game? You don’t have an infinite amount of tries, there’s no cheat codes.
  6. There’s no exponential XP requirement to level up and content doesn’t expire. It’s not like a video game where the amount of time it takes to level up increases as you get higher level. Not true. The amount of time it takes to learn something is static. The amount of time it takes to finish college is 4 years, whether you start at 18, 26, 36, or 46. 2 years is what it takes to put your life together. 1 year is what it takes to start it put your life together. 3 months is what it takes to take the first couple of steps. The content is there, it’s just when you choose to engage with it. Just bc you’ve “wasted” time learning one skill, does not make it harder to learn another skill.
  7. Beware of people who sell walkthroughs to sandbox games. I’m not saying there isn’t something to learn from those people, just be careful. No one is going to have perfect information about what you should do with your life because they haven’t lived your life. It is impossible to put together a walkthrough for your life. And anyone selling you a walkthrough for your life that will turn everything around is someone you should be very careful of. You are unique.
  8. If you want to carry other people through content, you have to be geared up yourself. If you want to help another human being, you have to have your shit in order first. Put on your own oxygen mask on first. Start with yourself.
  9. Success is dependent on your raid guild. Life is not a single player RPG. Think about the company that you keep. What bosses you down depend on your raid guild.
  10. Any build is viable. Don’t compare. Just do what you do well. You can be a doctor, you can be someone that consumes internet. The more you get caught up in what other people are doing, the more you’re gonna get confused about what you’re building. If you try to mimic a half dozen builds from a half dozen people, then you’re gonna end up failing. Stop looking at what other people are doing and start playing your own game.
  11. Exploit the Meta. We are in a different meta than 50 years ago. There are different problems and different advantages. We are now in the ADHD meta. We literally have a group of professions for which ADHD seems to have a competitive advantage. For example the barrier to publication is shrinking to a fraction of what it was. What does that mean? It means 50 years ago if I wanted to write a book, there was a big gap between the author and reader (author has to submit to publisher, publisher has to think that enough people will want to read it, it has to be marketed properly, etc). Other examples, you can solo make a video game, board game, an app, youtube videos, etc. 2nd thing: entertainment is now the most important thing to invest in. We are automating everything else.
  12. The final boss is you. Everyone is talking about problems in the world. We think that the raid boss is an external thing. It’s not. A boss is just another boss, they can kill you. But what determines if they do is whether you are good enough. The raid boss is you. Time to git gud. What is really holding you back? “I don’t want to. I don’t like it. It’s boring. I’m not motivated”. The problem is you.

2021.12.03 19:24 comptonrj Looking for opinions my path towards getting into racing.

I got a 2021 SL6 Tarmac (105's version) as my first real bike upgrade this summer. I've enjoyed road riding for years and got seriously into training in 2020. The bike has been sweet to ride for sure. However after watching my first crit and seeing crashes, and reading alot, I'm just not sure I'm willing to risk getting into road racing at this point in life. I'm the sole breadwinner with 2 kids, and probably looking to have another in the next few years. Plus, its cool to have a fun fast bike, but I mean, if I'm never going to race it, what's the point?
However, I have been thinking about Cyclocross. It still allows me to train the same way and use the same fitness (don't have time for longer races anyway) and also safer. I am considering selling the Tarmac and getting a lower end gravel bike that I could use for XC and road riding (still like doing the fast group rides). Then with the profit I make on the Tarmac (hopefully) I can finally get a Wahoo. That would be a nice upgrade since I'm currently using a 10 year old Saris fluid trainer.
Anyway, any serious downsides anyone can see here?
